Competition Rules - The King Award for Young Artists

Competition Rules

1.	Repertoire must be different for each round of the Competition.
2.	All decisions of the DVD selection panel and the Competition jury will be final.
3.	All works are to be performed from memory during all three rounds of the Competition.
4.	The Competition reserves the right to make audio and/or video recordings of all rounds of the Competition and to use such recordings for its own purposes. Participants consent to having their photographs taken and used by the Competition for any and all purposes. Participation in the Competition constitutes a waiver of all claims and fees for broadcast of Competition performances.
5.	The semi-final and final rounds of the Competition will be open to the public.
6.	Contestants must be at least 18 years of age but not more than 26 years of age on April 1, 2009. Proof of age, such as a photocopy of a birth certificate or driver’s license, must accompany the DVD and application fee.
7.	Applicants must be a resident of Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Colorado. Applicants with residency in one of these states can be currently studying anywhere in the world.
8.	During the Competition, competitors shall not make contact nor speak with the jurors. Violation of this rule may be grounds for disqualification from the Competition.
9.	All awards are subject to state and federal tax laws in effect at the time of the Competition.
10.	The Competition is not responsible for lost or damaged DVDs. Applicants should retain copies of all materials submitted. All application materials become the property of the Competition and will not be returned.
11.	The DVD and non-refundable $35 application fee, along with a photocopy of a driver’s license or birth certificate, must be received in the Salina Symphony office no later than Friday, January 16, 2009. If applicants are using a staff accompanist for the final round, an additional $100 must be included. The $100 accompanist fee will be refunded if applicant does not advance to the final round.
